How to enable ZipArchive?

Amy Flakelar
ZipArchive is essential for WordPress plugins, backup tools, and file management scripts that need to create or extract ZIP files. Without it enabled, you’ll get fatal PHP errors when these tools try to run.
CloudLinux gives you granular control over PHP modules per domain, so you can enable ZipArchive without affecting other sites on your account.
- Login to the cPanel of your domain.
- Click on “Select PHP Version”
- Change the PHP version to anything that isn’t native and click “Set as Current”
- From the list of modules, check “Zip” and click Save
Common issue: If you don’t see the modules list after step 3, wait 30 seconds and refresh the page. CloudLinux needs a moment to load the available extensions.
These instructions apply to your cPanel accounts only, not the WHM reseller interface.
These instructions only work with CloudLinux hosting. Without CloudLinux, PHP modules are controlled server-wide and can’t be enabled per domain.
All Smart SEO Hosting WHM packages include CloudLinux at no extra charge - that’s why you get this level of control.
